Birthday Girl

My daughter S's birthday today. Always a challenge to think of a novel present for her so close to Christmas. She's not a bit fussy and I suppose we all feel for her having a birthday at Christmas time. Plenty of nice pressies though and she seems really thrilled with her magnetic photo board with a grassy theme which we bought at Habitat. Really miserable wet and windy today. Just took my dog Eorna ( Irish for Barley) for a walk this morning, did a little post Christmas ironing etc, and made a visit to my son this evening. Will try to do some sewing up of G's cardi, and hopefully finish it before New Year. For book club last month, I read The Master, by Colm Toibin. Although it was a little slow to start, I really got into it, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Its a biographical novel about 4 years in the life of Henry James, the American author, at the end of the 19th century. This is a lovely gentle novel, very descriptive and absorbing. Easy to see why it was nominated for the

Turtles

These two pictures are of my daughter G's turtles. She waited weeks and weeks for permission to have them in the house. Didn't think I'd like them, but they are quite sweet. They are called Weebles and Niro. I wondered for a name for my blog, tried several but they were all taken, so asked my daughters G and S for help, saw the turtles and thought it would be a good name for my new blog.

Christmas 2006

Hello Everyone and a Happy Christmas Third time lucky! This will be my 3rd attempt at uploading pictures to my new blog, so hopefully it will work. I have not done any more knitting on the Kureyon cardi, but here are some pictures of WIP. I'm really pleased with it so far, and I just love the colour striping. I'm not really that pleased with where they're placed, but better luck next time.
Hi all this is my first posting on my newly created blog. Its a really wet windy grey morning and I have not bothered going for a walk with my dog Eorna, a golden labrador. I think I'll watch tv for a while and knit my daughter's jumper. Its to be a zip up cardi, knitted in Noro Kureyon in beautiful shades of brown, purple, blue and some turquoise. Its my first time to knit with this yarn and I'm very pleased with how its looking. Recently I've finished 4 pairs of fingerless gloves, 3 pairs of fetchings, and have one or two other WIPs which are buried in the bottom of my large knitting bag. Have not tried posting photos yet, I'll leave that for another day.
