Oh my God !!!!!!!!!!!!! Its Tragic !!!!


OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe what happened.
On my last post, I invited ideas as to what I was knitting. Well it was to be a bag. This was started 3 times as I was not sure about felting. For the 1st time I did a swatch!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I decided it needed to be knitted looser and bigger. I knitted it looser and bigger. It was 30 ins long and about 16 ins wide and I expected it to measure about 15ins high by 10ins wide.Well as you can see from the book in the picture, it is only 10ins high and the width of the book, and I cannot pull it apart, its so matted together.
I used Rowan Tapestry in colour 'pot pourri'. The colours would have been lovely, pretty pinks and greys. As I was knitting it, it was very soft and beautiful. I only felted it at 60 degrees with a couple of towels and the finished bag was to be a gift. I will not use this yarn for felting again.
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no! I'm so sorry. It looked really lovely in the process. Can you salvage any of it for something else? Maybe cut it up for flowers?

Me and Ravelry etc

Intermittent blogging for me lately. I've had a very busy time for the last 2 months, and so have not had my mind on blogging. Have been doing some knitting, photos later, but only small projects which is only using tiny pieces from my stash. Knit Lit

Recently I've been reading some Knitting fiction. First up was 'The Friday Night Knitting Club' by Kate Jacob .This is the story of a single mother, Georgia, who has her hands full with her yarn shop and raising her teenage daughter. Her Friday knitting club is the place where friendships are made and problems are discussed and helped. This book was slow to get going and indeed I was half way through before I really got into it. I suppose I was slightly disappointed in it having heard all the hype about the movie being made with Julia Roberts starring. I will go and see it though for the curiosity. Next was 'A Good Yarn' by Debbie Macomber .This is the story of Lydia who has had health issues. She sets up a sock knitting class in her yarn store and through it we meet the lovely people who attend it, and their interesting lives, and the lovely friendships created through it. My Mam

My Mam, Carmel, passed away on the morning of Nov 21st last after a short illness. She was gentle, kind, loving, caring and giving. We will miss her terribly. I don't think it has dawned on us yet. I will miss the long phone calls, the chats, the gossip, the visits. May she rest in peace.
